Frequently Asked Questions

Well!  We think you'll find Crop2Shop so useful that you may decide not to bother with the time and expense of maintaining a dedicated website.  But you may of course continue your sales through your other online or in-person avenues.  Reminder that there is no cost to the farmer for use of the platform.

We recognize that both the farmer and the retailer have unique constraints on both sides of the transaction.  The default mode of transportation is for the producer/farmer to transport to the retailer or household.  But which ever method is selected, the Chat function on the website is provided so that all aspects of delivery (days of the week, times, means and responsibility for delivery) can be arranged between the producer and retailer.  Note: an option for third-party transportation will be added to the platform in the future.

It costs nothing for producers to join and to use Crop2Shop!  Retailers pay a small surcharge on the price negotiated for the product(s), which is added to the total for the transaction.

Yes!  Restaurants can participate in Crop2Shop in the exact same way that storefronts can.  Simply register as a "Retailer," then start shopping!

Yes!  Crop2Shop’s Chat function allows both parties to the transaction to address any and all logistical issues involved in the transaction with your retailer and set up a delivery schedule that meets your needs. If you don't deliver, simply enter the radius within which you expect to make sales through the "Delivery Radius" menu item then arrange pickup using the Chat function on the platform.

Unfortunately, some farmers are less responsive to inquiries than others.  Depending on your urgency, we'd ask you to allow 8 to 12 hours for your farmer to respond. Then perhaps make another inquiry of our many Crop2Shop farmers for your item(s) of interest.
Absolutely! The easiest way to do this is to add a random item to your Virtual Farmstand like "tomatoes." Then click on the edit button for that item. Click on the "Create Duplicate of this Item" green button in the upper left portion of your screen. Proceed to that copy of the item in your Virtual Farmstand and rename it with your produce name, e.g. "Mary's Homemade Salsa" and edit the pricing and quantities as needed. This video shows how to create a duplicate item. After you've created this new items, go ahead and delete the original item (tomatoes in thie example) if it's not something you sell in your Virtual Farmstand.
Yes! You can download your products, pricing, and inventory status as an Excel file (or CSV), edit the information as needed and then upload back to the site. This video shows how it's done.
Yes! We're currently working on an enhancement to allow our purchasers to mark their favorite farms with a single "Favorite" mouse click.  Until then (late Summer 2025 we hope), we suggest the early internet throwback method of bookmarking your favorite farm in your browser.  This video reminds you how.
Yes! This is also accomplished by creating a duplicate of an existing item then renaming it in your Virtual Farmstand. For example, to create an item of produce called "Organic Tomatoes," select "Tomatoes" from the available items. Then use the "Create a duplicate of this item" button to create a duplicate of that item. Then rename the duplicate to "Organic Tomatoes." You'll probably then want to delete the original item "Tomatoes" from your Virtual Farmstand. Please see this video for a very brief tutorial, showing the process.
